Dove House Hospice

Why has Dove House Hospice joined Working Voices?

"At Dove House Hospice we believe staff health and well-being is an increasingly relevant and necessary consideration in the workplace, in this respect we are truly committed to supporting our valued employees' emotional and physical wellbeing.

With this in mind we are delighted to be joining the Working Voices initiative.  The programme recognises the possibility to unlock the potential of the UK workforce, to ensure their voices are heard when changes or developments in local health care are proposed and to signpost staff to local services, support, events and activities.

We are proud to now be in a position to offer our staff a NHS Health Check and have accessed training sessions for managers to explore the issues of stress and pressures in the workplace.

Additionally we have identified the need for mental health first aid awareness training, we plan for 3 key staff members to attend the course to enable them to further support and to work more effectively with employees who may be experiencing mental health problems.

We are confident the collaboration with Working Voices and the steps we have already taken towards making a positive difference will demonstrate to our employees how much we care about their health as a whole."

About Dove House

Dove House Hospice are specialists in palliative care, which is the total care of patients whose illness is no longer curable and for whom the goal must be quality of life.

Their care incorporates physical, social, psychological and spiritual support delivered by a multi-professional team who embrace the family and significant others throughout the patient's illness.

Dove House Hospice is a 'home from home' where patients and their families can feel at ease in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The patient and their family are at the centre of everything they do; the patient - not the illness - is the focus of care.

They aim to give, not only specialist care but special care; embracing patients with warmth, understanding and friendship whilst offering them and their families guidance and support during difficult times.
