Hull FC Community Foundation is pleased to announce ‘Unite’, a new initiative focused on empowering women living in Hull to come together and participate in activities that support their physical and mental wellbeing.
‘Unite’ is a new project forming part of the Foundation’s long standing ‘Teaming Up for Health’ partnership with NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group. It is one of several soon to be released projects that are focusing on reversing health disparities in the city. Free childcare is being offered alongside the Unite sessions for children aged 2+ years, to allow mothers to attend also.
Maisie Malton, Head of Health and Wellbeing at the Foundation has been instrumental in developing the ‘Unite’ programme. She said:
‘Since starting in this role, I have enjoyed the opportunity to meet local women and hear about their experiences in accessing wellbeing activity in the community. There is some fantastic work taking place in Hull, especially in tackling inactivity, and I am confident that ‘Unite’ will offer something new that is attractive to women, uniting them in their journey into physical activity and mental wellness. I encourage any women who are interested to come and meet others in your community, increase your fitness, feel empowered, and be able to speak up in this safe space.’
‘Unite’ will be delivered on Wednesday’s, commencing 3 November from the Hull FC Youth Performance Centre on Pickering Road from 1pm to 2.30pm. With additional sessions to launch soon for women who work or who have other commitments during the day. The programme will offer twelve sessions across twelve weeks, aiming to empower women by boosting their self-esteem, educating them on how to improve their mental and physical wellbeing, and uniting them together to normalise the issues and struggles they may be facing.
Each session will be different, with a range of fitness activities from pilates to walking, yoga and relaxation, gym workouts e.g., circuit training and clubbercise, sports e.g., tennis and rounders. As well as this there will be empower activities such as talks with nutritionists, personal trainers, and mental health professionals, mindfulness, relaxation and coping mechanism activities. To add value, the Foundation is pleased to be working with organisations including Hull City Council Healthy Lifestyles Team, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, Space 2 Be, Life & Fork Nutrition, and Motivation 2 Move to make sure each session is unique and to cover as many areas of health and wellbeing as possible!
Covid safety measures will be put in place to ensure Unite sessions are carried out in a safe manner.
