From 1 July 2022, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will be dissolved, and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) will take over the responsibility for NHS functions and budgets. We will become part of NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB. You can continue to use this website to find the information you need, which remains relevant for the Hull area.

With temperatures set to drop over the coming weeks professionals at NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are advising people to stay well by following simple winter advice.

Sarah Smyth, CCG Executive Nurse said:

“We all know we should wrap up as the weather turns colder, but there is other simple advice we can follow to ensure we stay well through the coldest months, especially if you’re vulnerable to illness. Firstly, make sure you heat your home sufficiently and keep warm; this will make you less likely to pick up a common winter illness, such as a cough or cold.”

Those vulnerable to illness, including people over 65, those who have a long term health condition or women who are pregnant, are more vulnerable to winter illnesses and are at risk of serious complications if they become unwell and do not seek medical advice.

Sarah added:

“It is important to know where to get medical advice, and to act quickly, if you begin to feel unwell, especially if you are in one of the vulnerable groups. NHS 111 will be able to give you advice about which local service to access or your local pharmacist can offer advice, and sometimes treatment, for winter ailments and illnesses.”

With snow and ice likely for the region, it is also important to look out for those who may become isolated as the weather worsens. Sarah adds:

“Keep in touch with family and friends who may not be able to get out and about as easily in the bad weather. We’re told up to a third of elderly people don’t see their family and friends through the winter and we know this can increase their risk of becoming unwell. Spare 5 minutes out of your day to speak to an elderly relative, friend or neighbour; it could make a huge difference.”
