Residents in Hull are being given the chance to have their say on plans to improve access to GP services. These proposals would make more appointments available outside of normal GP practice opening hours.
NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is to use funding from NHS England to offer additional appointments in the evenings and over weekends. If these plans go ahead the extra provision would be available from 2019.
The CCG is running a short survey to help shape what this new provision may look like.
Dr Dan Roper, Chair of the CCG, said:
“While patients at some practices in Hull already have access to a limited service outside of standard opening hours, we would like to extend this to all patients in the city.
“It’s our aim that these additional appointments will make it easier for people to access a GP and a range of other healthcare professionals, and will particularly benefit those individuals who work or struggle to attend in standard hours.
“Our short survey gives you the chance to have your say on how this extra service may work. All of the views shared with us will be used to inform our discussion with GP practices and make sure that any provision meets the needs of our local residents.”
