#TheHealthy100, a Hull FC Community Foundation wellbeing initiative, has already engaged with over 50,000 people as it reaches it’s halfway milestone today.
The social media campaign is 100 consecutive days of physical activity tips, mental wellbeing support and motivational advice to help people lead healthier lifestyles.
Forming part of the Community Foundation’s ‘Teaming Up For Health’ partnership with NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group, the programme hopes to have a positive impact on Hull residents when it comes down to their physical and mental wellbeing.
As the campaign reaches its fiftieth day today (5 November), many areas under the health and wellbeing bracket have already been covered by #TheHealthy100, including coping with stress, anxiety, depression and healthy eating.
Furthermore, the campaign has also raised awareness of conditions such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and breast cancer, whilst #TheHealthy100 has encouraged support of Black History Month throughout October.
In the first half of the campaign, #TheHealthy100 has collaborated with the NHS, Hull & East Yorkshire Mind and Age UK.
Campaign creator Maisie Malton, the Community Foundation’s Head of Health and Wellbeing said: “To have already engaged with over 50,000 people is absolutely fantastic, but it makes us more committed to push harder and engage with even more people in the second half of the campaign.
“We are all too aware of how tough the last two years have been for everybody and the significant impact that it has had on people’s wellbeing, so we were very focused on creating a project that would help support people post Covid-19.”
Jessica Wilson is one person in particular who has first-hand benefitted from #TheHealthy100 campaign after she won a competition for a 100-day membership at Total Fitness Willerby.
“I came across #TheHealthy100 on Instagram and I decided to engage with it, which ended up in me winning a competition to win a free gym membership for 100 days,” she told the Hull FC Community Foundation.
“I’m hoping to improve my fitness and finding new ways to keep active, but so far I am thoroughly enjoying my experience at Total Fitness. I’m taking full advantage of the swimming pool!”
