Residents in Hull are invited to nominate a practice nurse for a new award which celebrates the skills, expertise and dedication of those nurses who provide care within the city’s GP surgeries.
The ‘Recognising the Value of General Practice Nursing Awards’ will take place for the first time this year and all practice nurses or health practitioners from the Yorkshire and Humber region are eligible to be nominated.
Practice nurses and health practitioners provide a range of services from inside GP surgeries where they assess, screen, treat, educate patients, and help doctors give medical care.
There are several categories reflecting the depth and breadth of the contribution these professionals make. The categories are:
- People’s Choice Award (patients and carers – poster attached)
- Practice Nurse of the Year
- Healthcare Practitioner of the Year
- Rising Star
- Practice Nurse Leadership
- GPN Innovator
- Mentor
- Preceptor
Professor Jane Cummings, Chief Nursing Officer for England, said:
Nurses working in general practice may not have always received the recognition they deserve in the past but they are central to our plan to improve care for patients and ensure the NHS is fit for the future.”
Members of the public can nominate a Practice Nurse for the People’s Choice Award by completing this form.
Staff and clinical colleagues can nominate a nurse for a range of other professional awards. Information about these can be found here.
