Sunday 18 September 2016 will see eight members of the NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group team tackle the RB Hull Marathon.
The CCG, whose staff work to create a healthier Hull, are a key partner of the marathon and have two relay teams completing the gruelling 26.2miles through Hull.
Sue Lee, Communications and Engagement Manager and one of the marathon runners said:
“As a CCG we felt we simply had sponsor the marathon; what an amazing opportunity to inspire the whole of the city to lead a healthy, active lifestyle. As staff, we wanted to get involved and really practice what we preach – we ask others to be active, so we wanted to prove that we are too!”
The team will begin the relay outside of the CCG offices on Alfred Gelder Street and are looking forward to being part of the marathon buzz, Paul Thomas, Programme Manager, adding:
“Running the Hull Marathon is always great, the atmosphere and support from the crowd is incredible; being part of the relay team means being able to experience it without having to necessarily be an elite athlete. It just shows how we can all be healthy and active, even if we’re just beginning to get into a sport.”
After having two teams complete the marathon last year, the CCG wanted to extend its support for the event by becoming a major sponsor.
Emma Latimer, NHS Hull CCG Chief Officer said:
“We’re always looking to encourage people in Hull to lead a healthy, active lifestyle, and the marathon encompasses this perfectly. The race acts as great inspiration not only for those involved, but those thinking about being more active too, so it is fantastic to be involved.”
