Hull Champions
“We want to celebrate the work happening in communities to improve health and wellbeing.”
Emma Latimer, Chief Officer, Hull CCG
A Hull Champion is simply a person, or group of people, who are helping other people in Hull to be healthy and happy.
The Hull Champions is our initiative to support community groups, individuals, and volunteers to create a healthier Hull. We aim to have a Champion on every street in Hull, inspiring and empowering their family, friends, neighbours, and community to be happy and healthy.
If you act in some way that will make people in our city healthier, or you have an idea to create a healthier Hull that you need help to get off the ground, then you could be a Hull Champion. The Hull Champions Programme offers one-to-one support, free training opportunities, and a chance to network with other like-minded individuals and organisations at our monthly meet ups.
Hull Champions come in lots of forms; from an individual volunteering at a community group which reduces isolation, to the leaders of a club that helps people eat healthier meals, to a group of people working to promote good emotional health or members of a charity who want to raise awareness of a health condition.
So, what do we expect in return? For us, the biggest benefit to supporting you as Hull Champion is that you help us to create a healthier Hull. We want everyone in Hull to be as healthy and happy as possible, to be informed about healthy lifestyle choices, empowered to make the right choices and to know where to go when they want their voice to be heard. Your job as a Hull Champion is to not only help people living in Hull to be as healthy as possible, but also let them know about us and what we do, how we can help, and that we will always listen.
